La Liberté Online
Over 100 Years of Past Issues
As part of the Peel Project, over 100 years of La Liberté, Manitoba’s French weekly newspaper, have been digitized and made available on the web.
The Peel project, Peel’s Prairie Provinces, “contains both an online bibliography of books, pamphlets, and other materials related to the development of the Prairies, as well as a searchable full-text collection of many of these items“.
La Liberté has had three main periods. The first, under the title La Liberté, corresponds to the years 1913 to 1941; the second, under the title La Liberté et le Patriote, corresponds to the years 1941 to 1971 and covered the provinces of Manitoba and Saskatchewan; the third, which takes the title of La Liberté, corresponds to the years 1971 to the present.
Please note that Prairies according to Peel has been transferred to the Internet Archive. For basic information on how to search this collection in this new platform, see here.
